Cancer is now the second most common killer in the United States and steadily increasing. One in every three people will die from some form of it. Over 1400 Americans die each day with it.
Cancer cells are classified by the organs
they initially invade (liver, breast, colon, lung, lip, etc). There are more
than 100 different varieties of cancer. Each varies in its symptoms and how
fast it spreads.
There are main types of cancer: Carcinomas affect skin, mucous
membranes, glands, and other organs. Leukemia are blood cancers. Sarcomas affect
muscles, connective tissue, and bones. Lymphomas
affect the lymphatic system.
Early detection and treatment is vital. One person
dies every 3 minutes from cancer.
Dr. Otto Warburg, Nobel Prize Winner, stated:
“More is known about the cause and prevention of cancer than most any other
disease.”
Dr. Ronald Raven, Chairman of the Royal
College of Surgeons in London, made this comment: “Seventy-five percent of all
cancer can be prevented if we utilize the facts we now possess.”
At the English International Cancer Congress,
Dr. Kavetsky said: “It is essential in the treatment of tumorous disease, not
only to act on the tumor, but to endeavor to strengthen the compensatory and
defensive reaction of the entire system.”
SYMPTOMS
The most common symptoms
of cancer: any sore that does not heal on the skin, mouth, tongue, or lips. Any
irregular or unusual bleeding or discharge from any body opening. A persistent
change from normal in the action of the bowels or bladder. Any persistent lump
or thickening in breast or anywhere on the body. Hoarseness or nagging cough.
Difficulty in swallowing. Persistent indigestion or loss of appetite,
especially if accompanied by loss of weight. Sudden or rapid changes in the
form, appearance, or rate of growth of a mole or wart, or if it bleeds.
Persistent fatigue.
To the basic eight cancer signs, listed
above, can be added three others which are also important: any condition which
does not respond to treatment, inflammation from blood clotting (thrombophlebitis),
and putrid intestinal gas.
1.
Skin cancer: A lump under the skin, moles which change color or size
and have raised edges, an ulcer which does not heal, flat sores, lesions which
look like moles.
2. Mouth or throat: Chronic ulcer of the mouth, tongue,
or throat which does not heal.
3.
Larynx: Persistent cough and hoarse throat.
4.
Lung: Persistent cough, bloody sputum, and
chest pain.
5.
Breast: Lump which is hard, does not go away,
and does not move; inflammation or thickening of the skin.
6. Leukemia: Whiteness of skin, weight loss,
fatigue, repeated infections, easy bruising, nosebleeds.
7.
Stomach: Indigestion and pain after eating.
8. Bladder and kidney: Blood in urine and increased
urination frequency. Bloody urine is generally not a cancer symptom, but it can
be.
9. Ovaries: Usually there are no obvious symptoms
until later stages.
10.Endometrium: Bleeding between menstrual periods,
unusual discharge, painful periods, heavy periods.
11.Cervical
and Uterine:
Bleeding between periods, unusual discharge, painful periods, heavy periods.
12. Prostate: Weak or interrupted urine flow.
Continuous pain in lower back, pelvis, and/or upper thighs.
13. Testicles:
Enlargement of a
testicle, lumps, thickening of the scrotum, sudden excess of fluid in the
scrotum, and mild ache in the lower abdomen or groin.
14. Colon: Blood in stools, rectal bleeding,
changes in bowel habits (diarrhea and/or constipation)
15. Lymphoid
Tissue: Enlarged,
rubbery, lymph nodes. Also itching, night sweats, unexplained fever, and/or
weight loss.
CAUSES:
When a cancer becomes noticed, it is already
far advanced. By the time a person has reached that stage, it is important that
he place himself under the care of a competent physician who understands and
uses nutritional therapy. However, he needs to understand, for himself, what is
required and what he must do. There are situations in which a cancer victim has
no one to help him, and he must carry out such a program entirely on his own.
But, whatever helped by others or going it
alone, unless the individual fully cooperates with right principles, he cannot
successfully be helped. He must cease his violations of the natural laws, given
by God to mankind, and live fully in accordance with them.
The type of food we eat, the way we live, and
environmental factors gradually build up or weaken the body. If the organs of
elimination cannot cope with the amount of toxic waste we are producing, in
desperation the body eventually turns to the formation of tumors and cancers.
Soft cancers are cells gone wild because of the excess waste in the system.
Hard tumors are garbage vans prepared to hold the toxic waste.
Cancer generally has a lengthy incubation
period of years. Nourishing the body, building up the immune system, and
avoiding excess and debilitating substances enables the body to resist cancer.
Because of intemperate living, eating, sleeping,
combined with stress, the body is gradually weakened over a period of many
years. This produces a chronic auto-intoxication. Poisons have accumulated in
the body. Vital organs, whose job it is to purify and eliminate wastes
(primarily the skin, lungs, liver, kidneys, and bowels), become less active and
efficient. The system becomes poisoned. These poisons accumulate around the
weakest organs or where the body has been injured by a bruise, fall, or blow.
The accumulated poisons from years of tea, coffee, tobacco, cola, meat, liquor,
fried food, etc., are sent over to the weakened area. Then the body tries to
build garbage cans (tumors), to hold the waste products, or the cells in that
area go wild from the irritation and begin multiplying. Either way, eventually
the cancer cells spill out and spread. It is well-known that irritation, such
as always picking at a certain spot, can induce cancer.
Unfortunately, there are also toxic
substances in air, water, and soil. Chemicals, food additives, pesticides, air
pollution, etc., make it all the more crucial that we live as carefully as we
can.
Prevention of cancer requires effort; yet
many people give more attention to caring for their prize dogs or their new
cars. It is far important, for your future, that you give your body the most
careful attention.
Drs. Hans Nieper and Dean Burk stated that,
by the time the tumor is present, a patient’s malignancy is already far
advanced. As noted earlier, a tumor is something of a strange parasite which
has a little as 2% of normal blood circulation. Its cells are living on sugar
fermentation instead of oxygen as normal cells do. It is more like a plant or
fungus.
Here are two interesting facts: (1) The U.S.
Government declares that the five-year survival rate from taking the officially
authorized cancer remedies (chemotherapy, surgery, or radiation) has not
changed over the past 20 years. (2) Statistics reveal that patients who do not
take officially authorized therapy will, as a group, survive longer than those
who do. (3) There is only one form of cancer which the medical community is
effectively treating, and that is skin cancer. In all other forms, the death
rate is extremely high; that is, within five years after authorized treatment,
most of the patients die.
A problem with the cut, burn, and poison
routes is their deadly nature. Chemotherapy, for example, produces hair loss,
extreme nausea, vomiting, fatigue, weakness, sterility. It also damages the liver,
kidneys, and heart. Both chemotherapy and radiation treatments are designed to
kill cancer cells a little faster than they are killing or weakening other
cells. The effect of this greatly debilitates the entire person and his immune
system. Reputable natural remedies cancer specialists, such as those at the
Gerson Institute, tell us that it is far more difficult to recover a person
from cancer who has previously undergone chemotherapy or radiation treatments.
What should you do? That is your decision.
Fortunately, you have a right to decide for yourself. However, you should know
that the government and the medical association advises that you should never
treat yourself for cancer. Their counsel is that you consult a medical doctor
(M.D) and follow his advice. Not to do so, they say, could result in your
death.
Cancer has been reported to badly
under-diagnosed. In one autopsy review of those found with malignancies, over
half of the deaths were caused by undiagnosed cancer.
Cancer
is a systematic disease, affecting the entire body and caused by conditions in
the entire person. So it cannot be treated by specifics. An entire change is
one’s way of life is required.
NATURAL REMEDIES
PREVENTION AND TREATMENT

It
is easier to prevent cancer than to treat it. Many things which prevent it (and
many are discussed in this article) help safeguard all of us. But, once
contracted, some treatments help one person more than another. So prevention is
the best way to deal with cancer. Eat right and live temperately.
“About 80% of cancer
cases appear to be linked to the way people live their lives. For example,
whether or not you smoke, the foods you eat, and certain industrial pollutants
all affect your likelihood of getting cancer. The role of diet in the cause and
prevention of cancer is particularly important. About 35% of cancer deaths may
be associated with dietary influences.”- National
Cancer Institute, press bureau, October 1990.

The
NCI press bureau goes on to list seven things you must do to avoid contracting
cancer:
“1. Avoid obesity: If you are 40% or more overweight,
you increase your risk of colon, breast, prostate, gallbladder, ovary, and
uterine cancer.
“2. Cut down on total fat intake. High-fat intake may be a factor in
the development of certain cancers (particularly breast, colon, and prostate).
By avoiding fatty foods, you are better able to control body weight.
“3.
Eat more high-fiber foods. These
include whole grain breads and cereals, fruits, vegetables, and legumes (such
as dry peas and beans). These foods may help to reduce the risk of colon
cancer. Furthermore, high-fiber foods are a wholesome substitution for fatty
foods.
“4. Include foods rich in vitamins A and C. Favorable foods are dark-green and
deep yellow fresh vegetables and fruits, such as carrots, yams, peaches, and
apricots for beta-carotene, the precursor of vitamin A. Also use oranges,
grapefruits, strawberries, and green and red peppers for vitamin C. These foods
may help lower risk for cancers of the larynx, esophagus, and the lungs.
“5. Daily intake of cruciferous
vegetables. These are cabbage,
broccoli, Brussels sprouts, kohlrabi, cauliflower, and others. They have
ingredients that build resistance to certain cancer.
“6. Avoid salt-curved, smoked, or
nitrite-cured foods. Among those
who eat these foods frequently, there is more incidence of cancer of the
esophagus and stomach.
“7. Keep alcohol consumption moderate
if you must drink. Heavy use of
alcohol, especially when accompanied by cigarette smoking or smokeless tobacco,
increase risk of cancer of the mouth, larynx, throat, esophagus, lung, and
liver.
NUTRITION
·
The
person must return to a good diet and the avoidance of various pollutants and
drugs which caused the problem. Anger and hate must be replaced by cheerfulness
and happiness.
·
Eat
a high-fiber, plant-based diet. Take 16-24 oz. of fresh vegetables juice daily.
And get regular exercise.
·
The
best cancer-fighting foods include:
Carotene-rich foods: Carrots, yams, green vegetables, tomatoes.
This includes all fruits that are red, orange, and yellow.
Antioxidant-rich foods: garlic, onions, broccoli, wheat germ,
sea vegetables, and leafy vegetables.
Steamed
cruciferous vegetables:
broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, kale.
Protease
inhibitors: beans (especially soy), rice, potatoes, corn
High-fiber
foods: Whole grains
(especially brown rice), fruits and vegetables.
Lignan
foods: Flax-seed oil,
walnuts.
·
Broccoli and dark leafy greens are outstanding foods. They contain lutein, which is an anticancer agent. Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and cauliflower contain D-glucaric acid which reduces various
cancers. Research shows that eating high levels of antioxidant foods provides a
strong protection against cancer.
·
Other
very good foods include apples, berries,
Brazil nuts, cherries, legumes (including lentils), oranges, plums.
·
Daily
drink juice from raw carrots, beets,
cabbages, and a lesser amount of asparagus.
Raw garlic is powerful. Blend in
tomato (or v-8) juice and drink. Let crushed garlic set out (in the air at room
temperature) for 10 minutes, before putting it in the juice. This seems to
increase its potency. Only drink distilled
water.
·
Eat
raw apricot kernels daily. If you
cannot obtain it, substitutes with almonds,
apple seeds, or peach kernels. They all contain laetrile, a cancer-fighting
agent.
·
Eat
a little seaweed daily. Eat tomatoes;
they contain lycopene, an antioxidant, which protects against cancer.
·
Cherries (especially tart ones) contain
anthocyanins which, by their antioxidant action, prevent cancer and heart.
·
The
only added sweetening should be a little honey
or black-strap molasses.
·
Soybeans contain genistein and diadzein, two
isoflavones which are antioxidants and protect against most forms of cancer.
FOODS
TO AVOID
·
Do
not eat any kind of meat.
·
Do
not eat dairy products, salt, sugar,
peanuts, or white flour. No processed, refined, junk, or fried foods. The
chloride in salt is the problem. Milk
contains saturated fat. Milk sugar
(lactose and galactose) can cause ovarian cancer.
·
Do
not use aluminum cooking utensils;
instead use stainless steel ( or glass in oven)
NUTRIENTS.
·
Nutritional
supplements would include:
·
Vitamin C: 3,000-12,000 mg daily, in divided
dosages.
·
Vitamin E: 400-800 IU daily.
· Flax-seed oil: 2 tsp. 3 times daily, because of its
Lignan and high omega-3 contents.
·
Carotene complex: 50,000-100,000 IU daily.
·
Coenzyme: 150-300 mg daily.
·
Vitamin C and E decrease the oxidation of body fats. Vitamin B6 (inositol) helps
prevent and shrink tumors. Niacin
has a similar effect. Calcium is a
preventive factor against cancer. Selenium
(not over 200 mcg daily) is also helpful.
·
Do
not take supplemental iron. It encourages the growth of cancer cells.
HERBS
·
Cancer-fighting herbs include pau d’arco tea (cups daily),
garlic (6-10 cloves, daily), ginseng, licorice root. Comfrey is good; but it
should only be applied externally.
·
Essiac tea has been used for decades, in Canada
and more recently the U.S and Europe, to eliminate cancer.
·
Citrus pectin inhabits growth of cancer cells; it is
especially useful against skin and prostate cancers.
·
Ojibwa herbal tea is used to reduce cancer. This
American Indian combination includes burdock root, slippery elm bark, sheep
sorrel, and turkey rhubarb root.
·
Herbs which increase immune function and have antitumor factors are olive
leaf extract and ginkgo biloba. Also included in this list is cat’s claw (but
not be used during pregnancy).
·
Antioxidant herbs include turmeric. It contains curcuma,
which helps protect against cancer and inhibit growth of cancer cells.
·
Herbs which reduce the effects of
chemotherapy and radiation: Alternate
the following: Astragus, echinaciea / golden-seal root capsules, burdock root, chaparral, dandelion, milk thistle, red
clover, birch, suma.
AVOID
·
Avoid
synthetic hormones, particularly estrogen, x-rays, alcohol, and caffeine. And avoid tobacco in all forms.
·
Avoid
dangerous chemicals, such as are found in insecticides (an important cause of
cancer), fresh paints, cleaning
compounds, hair sprays, waxes, cosmetics. And beware of ingredients in auto
products, art and craft supplies, pet supplies, foods and beverages.
·
Medical drugs and street drugs are additional sources of trouble.
Regular exposure to secondhand smoke can increase a nonsmoker’s chance of
getting cancer by 30%.
·
Keep
your weight down. Obesity in men can
contribute to colon and rectal cancer; in women, it has been linked to
gallbladder, breast, cervical, and uterine cancer. Fat disrupts the level of
sex hormones in the body. The greater the amount of a woman’s body fat, the
higher will be her levels of stored estrogen. Estrogen stimulates breast and
productive cells to divide.
·
Tap water contains chlorine, fluorine, and may
contain radium. Fluoride, a risk
factor for cancer, is in toothpaste, tap water, and every product made with tap
water. Therefore, as mentioned earlier, only drink distilled water.
·
Check
the radon level in your home. Test
kits for this radioactive gas can be purchased. If found, seal lower cracks,
and increase upper ventilation to the outside.
·
Do
not sit close to TV screens and do
not use microwave ovens. Both
produce radiation. If you sit at a computer,
install a quality radiation screen.
·
Avoid
living or working near a high-voltage power line; it may induce cancer.
OTHER
HELPS
·
Especially
for cancer of the internal organs, get some
sunlight on the body every day possible. It reduces the risk of breast,
colon, and prostate cancer.
·
Exercise regularly outdoors. No healing
program will succeed without some exercise.
·
If
you are able to do so, move to a rural
home where the air is fresh and not polluted with auto and factory
pollutants.
·
Breast-fed children have a lower rate of leukemia.
SAMPLE
RESEARCH STUDIES
Research studies have found many
factors which lead to the formation of cancer. Here are a couple samples:
·
A
12-year research study of more than 5,000 vegetarians and over 6,000 meat
eaters found that vegetarian diets
reduce risk of death from all causes, including cancer. People who ate no meat
had 40% lower risk of dying from cancer and a 20% lower risk than meat eaters
dying from any cause. (Margaret Thorogood, Ph.D., coauthored the study.)
·
A
Harvard follow-up study of nearly 48,000 men, aged 40-75, found that fat helps tumors grow more quickly. A
diet as low as possible in saturated fat was recommended. The leading sources
of saturated fat are beef, pork,
processed meats, whole milk, dairy products, and fats and oils (such as butter,
margarine, and mayonnaise).
·
It
has repeatedly been found that eating meat fat is a cause of cancer. But a
Harvard study found that even eating red
meat (with much less fat content) was also dangerous. A 6-year study of
almost 90,000 women found that those who eat red meat as a main dish each day
were 2 ½ times more likely to have colon cancer than those who seldom, or never
eat, ate meat. Other studies revealed that frequent consumption of meat is also
associated with an increased risk of breast cancer, according to Harvard School
of Public Health.
It is remarkable how many natural
remedies there are! Here are but a few samples, from among many which could be
cited, which either prevent or eliminate various forms of cancer:

A
recent study of a group of seventh-day Adventists found that men who ate at
least five times tomatoes a week had
a 40% lower risk of developing prostate cancer. It is believed that pigment
(lycopene) found in tomatoes is the key factor. It is chemically similar to
beta-carotene in carrots, which is also a cancer fighter (Edward L. Giovannuci,
M.D., Harvard Medical School.
·
Forty-four
cats were given a feline leukemia virus so lethal that, once cats develop
clinical symptoms, 70% are dead with 8 weeks and the rest soon after. Acemannan, found Aloe Vera and a potent immunostimulant, was then injected into the
cats for 6 weeks and then reexamined 6 weeks later. By that time, 71% of the
cats were alive and in good health (Molecular Bio-therapy, 3(1):41-5, 1991).
·
Berberine, found in golden-seal Oregon grape root
and barberry root bark, has been used in china, since 1972, in the treatment of
cancer. Several research studies have found that berberine shows potent
anti-tumor activity against brain, and other, tumors. Three studies could be
cited. (One is from Chinese medical journal,
103(3):658-65, 1990)
·
Bromelain (the proteolytic enzyme in
pineapple), when added to the diet, decreased metastases in lung cancers. Six
studies could be cited. (One is cancer
Investigation 6(2):241-2, 1988).
·
Chaparral (creosote bush) is an evergreen desert
shrub. Its primary anticancer chemical is a potent antioxidant. Research
studies reveal that, when used with care, this plant reduces tumors. Attention
to chaparral for this purpose began in 1969, when a man with a known malignant
melanoma of the right check (with large metastasis) treated himself for a year
with chaparral tea (cancer chemotherapy
report, 53:147-51, 1969).
·
Chlorella, green algae that grows in freshwater, was added to the
diet of 21 patients treated for malignant brain tumors. Two years after
treatment, 7 patients were alive and showing no reappearance of their tumors. (Phytotherapy reports 4(6):220-31, 1991).
·
Coumarin is a component of several anticancer
herbs (including dong equal, sweet clover, and red clover). Eight studies could
be cited, which demonstrate its ability to shrink and eliminate cancers (one study is Molecular Bio-therapy, 3:170-8,
1991). (Note: coumarin should not be confused with Coumadin, also known as
warfarin; this is rat poison used to thin the blood).
·
An
extract of Echinacea was given to
patients, who were actively receiving massive does of medical cancer drugs.
Patients generally lived longer than they otherwise would have; some did not
die. Four studies could be cited. (One is
cancer Investigation 10(5):343-8.)
·
Remarkable
rates of death to cancer cells were experienced by patients receiving garlic. Seventeen studies could be
cited (one is journal National Cancer Institute, 81(2):162-4, 1989). Garlic
appears to exert its effects by “direct action on tumor cell metabolism, inhibition
of the initiation and promotion phase of cancer, and modulation of the host
immune response” (Nutritional Reports,
10-937-48, 1990).
·
LaPacho,
a tree in Brazil, also known as pau d’
arco or tahebo has a long history of use by Brazilians in the treatment of
cancer. The major active component is lapachol. Four studies could be cited
(one is Revista do Instituto de Antibioticos, 20:61-8, 1980/81, in which all 9
patients experienced a shrinkage of tumors.) Note: Two Canadian studies
revealed that many commercially sold pau d’arco products contained no lapachol (Canadian Health Protection Branch:
Information letter, 726, August 13, 1987).
·
Mistletoe
has been widely used
in Europe for cancer therapy. They are injected because they are not absorbed
if taken orally. Seven reports could be cited. (One is Journal Ethnopharmacol, 29:35-41, 1990).
·
Chinese
or Korean ginseng is another
inhibitor of cancer development. Nine studies could be cited. (One is Bio-therapy, 4(2):117-28, 1992.)
·
An
extract of a seaweed (undaria
pinnantifida) stimulates immunological processes, including macro-phage activity
and anti-tumor effectiveness (Cancer
letter, 50:71-8, 1990)
·
Shiitake mushrooms are an important part of Japanese
diets; they are well-known for their protection against cancer. One of its
components, lentinan, is used in cancer treatment in that nation. But it must
be injected. Four studies could be cited. (One
is Cancer Detection Previews (supplement), 1:333-49, 1987.)
Turmeric and its major active component, curcumin, exerts powerful antioxidant
effects; it is helpful in the treatment of cancer, according to three studies.
(One is Cancer Letter, 29:2002,1985.)
